Chapter Updates: Gratitude, Growth & New Beginnings

Dear SMPS Tampa Bay Members,

As I begin my term as President, I want to start with gratitude. Our Immediate Past President, Michelle Casale, has been a mentor, a sounding board, and a friend throughout my journey with SMPS Tampa Bay. Her leadership has left an indelible mark on our chapter, and I'm grateful for her guidance, wisdom, and for the example she has set in leading with both vision and heart. Even on the most trying of days, her positive spirit is so infectious that you can't help but smile. Our chapter would not be as strong as it is today without her.

I'm also deeply thankful for our board of directors and committee members, who will help lead our chapter this year. Every person on our board brings creativity, commitment, and leadership that make our community a welcoming and nurturing place for our members. I couldn't ask for a better group of professionals to work alongside as we continue building on SMPS Tampa Bay's momentum.

This year, our call to action is Learn More. Win More. With SMPS.

Our focus remains clear: to make member value stronger than ever. Thanks to the strong foundation established last year through our strategic plan, you can expect more educational programming and professional development opportunities designed to help you grow your skills, strengthen your connections, and elevate your firm's success.

Aligned with that vision is an event next week that you won't want to miss! Register today for the Bold Impressions: Digital Impact workshop on October 15 at Workscapes in Tampa. This hands-on program will help you sharpen your personal brand, elevate your presentation skills, and create meaningful content that resonates with the people you want to reach most. Hosted by Amanda Gonzalez and the team from Paloma Studios, this session is designed specifically for A/E/C professionals and leaders looking to make a stronger and lasting digital impression. Learn more and register here.

Also starting next week, we're excited to announce that our Coffee & Connections meetups will be expanding to Sarasota and Lakeland! These meetups provide new and existing members with a great opportunity to build relationships across the region in a casual and welcoming setting. Check out our chapter calendar to register for upcoming meetups in Tampa, St. Pete, Lakeland, and Sarasota.

Beginning in November, our team will launch in-person CPSM study group sessions to help members pursuing certification connect, collaborate, and learn together. These sessions will provide an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, study as a group, and gain insights from CPSMs who have already gone through the process.

Finally, because our program year is longer than usual, there will be even more opportunities for members and prospective members to engage with our chapter. Whether you attend a program, volunteer on a committee, or introduce a colleague to SMPS, every connection strengthens our chapter and the community we serve. Our team continues to work hard behind the scenes, and we are all dedicated to ensuring that everyone can Learn More. Win More. With SMPS.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Take care and stay strong!

Jonathan Santiago

President, SMPS Tampa Bay (2025–2026)
